a procession in the plaza

A constant presence outside the presidential palace. The guard I mean. These other guys only swing by once in a while, this time part of an all day parade.

Some cuties checking out the procession.

One block outside the plaza, by the Rimac, there's something of a night market on the weekends. This guy was making some bold moves.

alex's tongue is a lethal weapon

So here are a few photos from Papa Gman's old Olympus 35mm. It's kind of like a Facebook gallery, but I'm too stubborn to actually sign-up.

Alex's heartfelt goodbye. We ate like 20 lbs of meat and cried all day. It was awfully tragic, so much so that we felt the need to dress up like giraffes and have a party.

I was pretty bored in the airport. While I was messing around taking this, an army guy came up behind me, bringing my attention to his presence with "oh shit, it sure ain't digital, it AIN'T digital." Then he told me about how Iraq sucks and he's trying to get reassigned to Honduras, because his wife is driving him crazy and that's apparently where the money is.

hee-oh

A few sights from Brazil.

Southern Rio de Janeiro, from the helipad on Ashley's friend's office building in Botafogo. A little heavy on the washed-out light, but it's pretty hard to screw up a photo of this city. Saudades...

Ipanema - I sketched off for a bit after tiring of the burning sun/skin/beer fest going on down there by the big coconut tree. Walking down the avenue I came across two roaming groups. The first, a jam-band with a dozen members, had just drawn a small crowd around their scantily filled briefcase when the second, twentyish students, came strolling through dishing out free hugs. Being the awkward gringo that I am, I sheepishly watched, until miss front-and-center insisted on a hug. Seeing that she had already made that guy's ass all wet, I naturally agreed.

Also, does anyone know what homeboy is blowing into in the back?

A couple shots from Lapa/Santa Teresa, a really beautiful hilly neighborhood. Sick stairs too, you can ask Snoop about this.

Some dude hanging out on a statue in Copacabana. Nuf said.

Little buddy Veronika looking out from the ONGy, in Complexo do Alemão. Too bad you can't really see her head.

I like the way her eyes narrow as she sips. I think this went down just after giving up on Pão de Açúcar because it cost like ten bucks, and it came down to a view or a beer...

My hostess, who tried to knife me for taking this. Luckily, she was busy staring at that beautiful red label.

A nice blurry shot of a small group in Ipanema.
